Thayer Scale has the most comprehensive line of weigh belt feeders on the market today; we are the only vendor to offer inclined or declined weigh belts as part of our standard offering. We design our belt feeders to handle a variety of materials (e.g., plastics, coal, metals, wood chips) and feed ranges (from 30 pounds/hour to 3,000 tons/hour). Belt widths for a weigh belt feeder range from 10 to 96 inches and belt lengths from 24 inches to over 60 feet.

MDL Heavy Industry Weigh Belt MTF Weigh Belt Low to Medium Capacity Feeder MWF-101 Light Industry Weigh Belt Feeder
MDL Weigh Belt is widely recognized mainline industrial continuous weigh belt feeders. They can be used with an open loop belt drive to gravimetrically totalize and measure the flow of material, or with closed control as a feeder and regulate the flow to a constant or varying set point. MDL bridges the gap between standard low capacity and high capacity weigh feeders. Some materials are too abrasive for standard low capacity feeders, lump sizes can be too large or flow rates slightly exceed specified limits, resulting in low accuracy and constant maintenance problems. These applications often can’t be reliably handled by larger, high capacity weigh feeders because the relatively low flow rates fall below specified limits. (for example: feeding 1.5 lumps of coal @ 2 STPH). The Model MDL is as ruggedly built as our capacity weigh feeders, to withstand abrasive materials, but is designed to operate at flow rates just beyond the limits of our low capacity feeders.

“MTF” weigh feeder is a low to medium capacity feeder that accurately and reliably measures and controls material feed rates. It is available in widths from 18” to 48”, with different belt types, standard inlet configurations and materials of construction to meet the most demanding requirements. Each weigh belt feeder can be adapted in length and width to meet the customers’ specific requirements. Modular construction features open design or completely dust tight enclosure. Material containment is achieved using full length adjustable skirt boards installed along the entire length of the conveyor or with high side wall belts made of corrugated high-tensile rubber which provide excellent flexibility, elongation and abrasion resistance. The two options can be combined for highly free flowing materials.

MWF-101 Weigh Belt Feeder provides Thayer Scale accuracy, ruggedness and reliability and reduces measurement errors. Self cleaning pulley eliminates material build-up and belt tracking problems. Unique flared skirt design prevents material spillage and assures proper feed control. Rigid scale support system provides exceptional stability, assuring accuracy without frequent re-calibration. Belt velocity is measured from the tail pulley, not the drive motor, providing a direct measurement of belt speed which improves both measurement and control of the material. Totally enclosed, gasketed design assures safe, dust free operation even when handling fine powder. The strain gauge load cell assembly can be easily removed then reinstalled without re-calibration of the feeder.Standard design coupled with dimensions and rates that are tailored to each application add versatility to its capabilities. Its design for ease of maintenance and the ability to change its throughput rating gives it a long useful life in a rapidly changing industrial environment

Thayer Scale’s Low-Density “MXL-LD” is the only low capacity weigh belt feeder designed specifically to handle low bulk density materials. Because the weigh sensing system in the Low-Density Model “MXL-LD” is engineered exclusively for these types of materials, it can deliver consistent, accurate long term performance. Thayer Scale engineers developed the technology for reliable weigh feeding of low-density materials. In these specialized applications, our Low-Density Weigh Belt Feeders have a proven record of being significantly more reliable and accurate than “standard” weigh belt feeders.

Thayer Scale’s Weigh Belt Feeder Series “SI” Insertion Weigh Belt Module is a unique feeder that has been designed to easily fit into an existing belt or vibratory conveyor line. The “SI” comes in either scale over or scale under design. A short support framework and a V-Guided conveyor (12, 18, 24 and 36 wide) makes this the only practical weighing module for insertion into a transition space between existing conveyors or equipment.

Thayer Scale’s specialty equipment lines is the Model “M” Low-Density Feeder line for weighing bulk materials having densities under 10 lb/ft3. A conventional feeder capable of weighing heavier products (typically 50 lb/ft3 and above) to an accuracy of ½% under limited weekly calibration attention, is likely to achieve no better than 3-4% accuracy when weighing a material having a density of only 5-10 lb/ft3 .High accuracy, rugged measurement system 100% of the scale’s capacity is used to weigh material. Dead weight of the weigh idler and belt is mass-counterbalanced, thus providing excellent resolution and a high signal to noise ratio. Thayer Scale’s rugged load cell design assures reliable and accurate performance for the life of the weigh feeder.

MD Heavy Industry Weigh Belt Feeder MWF-OS Light Industry Weigh Belt Feeder MS & SB Weigh Belts

MD Weigh Belt Feeder is widely recognized mainline industrial continuous weigh belt feeders. They can be used with an open loop belt drive to gravimetrically totalize and measure the flow of material, or with closed control as a feeder and regulate the flow to a constant or varying set point. MD is an extremely rugged weigh feeder that was originally designed for the harsh environment of the cement industry but can be used in a wide variety of applications. The Model MD is the ideal weigh feeder when medium to high feed rates are required, handling high bulk density and small through large particle size materials. The Model MD can be subjected to extreme environmental conditions such as abrasive dusts, corrosive fumes, wide temperature fluctuations and vibrations-without any detrimental effects on performance or accuracy.

Simplified construction and calibration results from suspending a complete synchronous-speed conveyor from a THAYER Flexure Scale. The type “S”, “SB” units adapt well to existing vibratory, screw or belt conveyor installations where it has been determined that weight measurement and/or flow control is desired. Also on new installations, the combination of a suitable pre-feeder and type S, SB unit often proves the best approach considering both cost and material handling requirements. The type “S”, “SB” has been used to handle, rock wool, aluminum chips, hot rubber extrusion, glass cullet, ice, sand and petroleum coke.

The Model MDH offers an extremely robust design with an intense commitment to quality and attention to detail. Thayer Scales’s Model MWF-ES Sanitary Enclosed Construction Weigh Belt Feeder is used for processing of snack food, cereal, pasta, pet food or any other application where hygiene and ease of cleaning is important. The MWF-ES frame is constructed from 304 or 316 stainless steel and is designed for “no-tools” disassembly. The Model MWF-ES can provide either “closed loop” gravimetric control of material feed rate or precise convey rate measurement and totalization of an uncontrolled or intermittent material supply.

MXL-20 Light Industry Weigh Belt Feeder HWF Hygenic Weigh Feeder S52c Weigh Feeder Controller
“MXL” is a widely recognized general purpose low capacity weigh belt designed to operate accurately and reliably in harsh industrial environments with minimal maintenance. It can be used with an open loop drive to gravimetrically measure the flow of material, or with closed loop control to operate as a feeder and regulate the flow to a constant or dynamic set point. The instrumentation can control the flow of materials as a master feeder or as a slave proportioning its feed rate to some other master signal Thayer Scale’s optional automatic test weight mechanism provides a means for applying a known test weight to allow completely automatic calibration. The calibration sequence can be initiated via the weigh belt instrument keypad or via a contact closure.
HWF Hygienic Weigh Feeder is designed to provide a flow rate measurement solution for the enhanced food safety processing segment. The Model HWF Hygienic Weigh Feeder is specifically engineered to accurately measure the rate of flow, control the rate of flow or dose conveyed, in-process bulk materials for food safety segments that require strict adherence to 3-A standards including, IQF vegetables, ready to eat food service, meat processing, poultry processing, cheese conversion (shred, grate), seafood, and high meat inclusion premium pet food. Thayer Scale developed the Hygienic Weigh Feeder to help the sanitary space meet the challenges of this new era of smarter food safety initiatives.
The S52c Instrument can be used on most Weigh Belt and Loss-In-Weight Feeder systems to provide continuous control and information about the flow of material to its process by monitoring the load and speed. The weigh system can use either a strain gage or LVDT Load Cell to sense weight; however a variety of sensors can be used to sense the speed. Weight information on a Weight information is processed as weight per length and speed is processed as unit length per time. Integrated together, this information is processed by the controller portion of the instrument to provide continuous control of the system to match a target flow rate or set-point.
